When awareness becomes action.
At the Defeat Duchenne Canada Family Forum in Halifax, I had the opportunity to share the story of I Have Resolve Foundation and our belief that everyone deserves to be seen, valued and included.
What I didn't know at the time was how deeply that message would resonate with one young person in the audience.
Meet Noah Flynn.
Following the conference, Noah reached out to share how deeply our foundation's message resonated with him. His own experiences have shown him that we can and must do better when it comes to fostering understanding and inclusion among young people. Inspired to make a difference, Noah took the initiative to create a poster that challenges us to think beyond awareness and encourages young people to turn understanding into meaningful action.
Noah recognizes the importance of building greater understanding, awareness and inclusion in our schools and communities. His desire to make a difference is reflected in the powerful message he chose to share.
Rather than simply talking about the need for change, Noah chose to take action, using his voice and creativity to inspire others.
His poster carries a powerful message:
"The lack of inclusion doesn't stem from the lack of awareness but often the lack of action."
Noah, we are truly inspired by you. Your courage, thoughtfulness and determination to create meaningful change are a powerful example of what it means to turn awareness into action. Thank you for believing in our mission and for reminding us why this work matters.
At I Have Resolve Foundation, we believe that awareness is important, but it is what we do with that awareness that creates meaningful change.

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of participating in a wellness panel at the Defeat Duchenne Canada Family Forum in Halifax.
Living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy affects not only individuals but also their families, and conversations about emotional well-being, connection, resilience, and support are incredibly important.
It was an opportunity to share perspectives, reflect on our experiences, and discuss the importance of creating environments where individuals and families feel understood, supported, and included.
I was also grateful for the opportunity to share a little about the journey that inspired the I Have Resolve Foundation and how those experiences continue to shape our commitment to inclusion and belonging.
Thank you to Defeat Duchenne Canada for creating space for these meaningful conversations and for bringing together a community that continues to learn from and support one another.

A Tremendous Thank You to the Optimist Club Halton Hills!
Community partnerships make an incredible difference, and we are so grateful for the continued support of the Optimist Club of Halton Hills!
From partnering with us at Cruise Nights throughout the summer to supporting the I Have Resolve Foundation through a recent Bingo Night, the Optimist Club has been a wonderful community partner.
And now, we are thrilled to share that the Optimist Club of Halton Hills is partnering with us to bring Classroom of Resolve to FOUR additional local schools!
Through Classroom of Resolve, we work directly with educators to provide practical resources that help create more inclusive, supportive learning environments for students with disabilities, diverse learning needs, and those facing barriers to participation.
This generous commitment will allow us to continue growing our reach right here in Halton Hills, supporting more students, more educators, and more opportunities for inclusion.
To everyone at the Optimist Club of Halton Hills, thank you for believing in our work and helping us make a meaningful difference in our own community.

We are thrilled to share that the I Have Resolve Foundation has been named a finalist for Organization of the Year: Not for Profit at the 2026 Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards!
We are especially honoured to be recognized alongside two highly respected organizations, Cancer Assistance Halton Hills and The Darling Home for Kids, both of which do incredible work in our community.
This recognition means so much to us and reflects the tremendous support, partnerships and encouragement we have received along the way.

What an incredibly special weekend.
John and I came home from Halifax with very full hearts.
There is something about being surrounded by the Duchenne community that is difficult to put into words. Seeing so many families together, reconnecting with people we have known over the years and meeting families for the first time brought back so many emotions and reminded us just how deeply this community will always be a part of our lives.
Duchenne has shaped our family in ways that will never leave us. And while there are parts of this journey that are incredibly difficult, there is also something so powerful about the connections created between families who simply understand.
This weekend brought so much of that back to us.
A heartfelt thank you to Defeat Duchenne Canada for inviting the I Have Resolve Foundation to be part of such a meaningful weekend. We loved spending time with the teens in the Teen Lounge, being there as an exhibitor, taking part in the wellness conversation and sharing a little more about the work we are doing through our I Have Resolve Foundation.
But what meant the most to us was simply being with the families.
The conversations. The hugs. The laughter. Hearing stories and sharing memories. Watching the kids and young adults spending time together. And being surrounded by people who understand the Duchenne journey in a way that few others can.
It reminded us again that while so much of the Duchenne journey focuses on treatments, appointments and what comes next, connection matters too. Friendship matters. Community matters. Creating opportunities to simply be together matters.
Jason will always be at the heart of why this community means so much to us and why our work is so deeply personal.
Thank you, Defeat Duchenne Canada, for welcoming us so warmly and for creating a weekend where families could learn, laugh, connect and simply be together.
We are incredibly grateful to have been part of it.
