Our Gaming Marathon is moving into its 5th year. Our gamers have gamed in support of donations toward wheelchair swings, service animals, and for customized bikes. Each year it has been our gamers who have selected our cause.

Meet Finnley!

We gamed in support of a wheelchair swing for Finnley and for others within the community for our very first marathon - and we celebrated in a tremendous way when Finnley received his park swing.

Congratulations to Finnley and family! Finnley, Lorrie, Marc and Ayvah are now frequent visitors to St. Vincent Park in Barrie. We are so pleased to have been part of their journey.

This year, we would like to do something a little bit different. Our purpose is always inclusion for individuals with disabilities. Our hopes are to combat social isolation and to allow everyone equal opportunity to participate within their communities.

Sometimes isolation occurs due to a medical condition or for whatever reason, an inability to frequently leave home. Staying at home can be due to necessity, it may be impossible or even just harder to frequently leave the house.

Keeping all abilities in mind we would like to focus our fundraising this year on our whole marathon premise – GAMING.

Our gamers who are registered so far have decided that they would like to game in support of purchasing gaming systems and games for those who may not have the opportunity to participate at in person social events. We will be purchasing gaming systems or games for those who may be medically fragile, for a organization who may be in need of a system, or for any individual who may be feeling isolated and is looking for a way to connect with others.

We would like to again extend our invite to anyone who would like to participate in our marathon. Our goal is inclusion and everyone is welcome. Gaming on December 27th will be either 6, 12 or 18 hours long.

Also, we would like to hear from anyone who would like to receive a gaming system or game. Additionally, please send us any nominations of an organization or individual who may benefit from our marathon giving. The total number of gaming systems purchased will depend on our total funds raised.

If you would like to donate towards our marathon please visit the link below.

We took advantage of a Black Friday sale and purchased two Cricut Maker 3 Everything bundles. (They have a value of over $900 each).

We have previously given away two of these crafting machines and have been so pleased with the feedback. One machine went to the Community Living North Halton day program and the other to a similar program in B.C.

We would like to donate these two new machines and are looking for two organizations or groups who support inclusive programs.

Please follow us and share our post as we look forward to giving these machines away.

The Power of Resolve

We are grateful for the opportunity to describe the meaning and history of our RESOLVE.

My name is Jennine Germond-Ditz and I would like to share a story that begins and ends with love. Explaining the "why" behind our I Have Resolve Foundation includes love, joy, loss, and grief - but all of it is really about love.

To further introduce our Foundation we think it's important to continue to openly share of ourselves. We want what we describe as our RESOLVE to be understood, as we feel our message is important for everyone.

Our son Jason lived with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I always laugh a little when describing Jason, as I want to be as honest as he was throughout his life. Jason was smart and super analytical; he was also honest to a degree that I was sometimes apologizing for him. Lecturing him later that some things do not need to be said.

Jason lived with what can only be described as bravery. He refused to ever complain, even when losing his upper and lower body strength. Our charity name, came from him - "whatever happens mom, I want you to know that I HAVE RESOLVE".

We lost Jason at the age of 20. As everyone can imagine, his loss was devastating to us as a family. After a significant amount of time and grief we started to wonder how we could make a difference. We were left with wondering how we could impact the isolation that Jason experienced. We wanted to work to educate on disability inclusion, but also to reach out and be a support to those feeling socially isolated.

We made the decision to register as a charity, and to focus on inclusion for individuals with disabilities. Our long-term goals center around supporting education, creating purpose, as well as opportunity for anyone who may feel left out or in need of social connection. Our goal is to educate youth to reach out, to step up to do what may be hard but also right, and to be a friend to someone who may need one.

We invite you to watch this 3-minute video from a recent Global News Making a Difference segment by Susan Hay. Susan did a wonderful job of spot lighting our purpose and inclusion work.

We are sad to be saying goodbye to Palatine Fruit and Roses this coming spring. Palatine has been wonderful to our charity, they committed themselves to growing our Jason’s Resolve rose and we are proud of what they have accomplished. We are grateful.

Palatine confirmed with us last week that we will have 198 roses for our 2025 spring crop. Our rose is a charity rose and sells for $50. We cover the cost of the rose and $20 is put towards inclusion opportunities for individuals with disabilities. We can offer a $20 tax receipt for anyone in Canada.

Please message us if you would like a rose for this spring. We are so proud of our rose, each bloom is unique and we see it continue to bloom until frost. Palatine requires information on all shipped roses by the end of February.

Note that starting in 2026 our rose will be sold wholesale through JC Bakker and Sons Ltd. We will still be able to offer roses locally but Jason’s Resolve roses will now additionally be sold by nurseries and retail stores within Canada and the United States.
