A bit of a full-circle moment today.

Today I delivered Classroom of Resolve items to a school that I attended many years ago. While I was there, the principal took me over to their graduating class wall — and there I was.

For those trying to spot me — bottom row, blue dress, second from the right.

It was one of those unexpected moments that makes you think about where life takes you, the experiences that shape you, and how they can eventually connect to the work you are doing today.

It has also been a busy and meaningful week for the I Have Resolve Foundation. We delivered resources to three schools, and I now have meetings arranged with four more schools that are next on our Classroom of Resolve list.

At the same time, our Community of Resolve work has me visiting retirement and community settings, creating opportunities for connection, participation and belonging.

There is something especially meaningful about seeing our work reach across generations — from students in classrooms to older adults in our communities. Different ages, different needs, but all connected to our mission of advancing inclusion, reducing social isolation, and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive.

Standing in that school today and seeing a much younger version of myself on the wall made this week feel just a little more special.

I’m honoured to be joining the 10th Defeat Duchenne Canada Family Forum in Halifax this October as a speaker.

This is an especially meaningful opportunity for me. Duchenne has shaped so much of my life, our family’s story, and ultimately the work we do today through the I Have Resolve Foundation.

Jason’s words — “Whatever happens, Mom, I have resolve” — continue to guide everything we do. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share some of our journey, what we learned along the way, and how Jason’s legacy continues to inspire our work to create greater understanding, inclusion and connection.

I’m looking forward to being in Halifax, reconnecting with the Duchenne community, meeting families from across Canada, and being part of some very important conversations.

Thank you Defeat Duchenne Canada for the opportunity to be part of this year’s Family Forum.

We were proud and privileged to recently support McKenzie-Smith Bennett School through our Classroom of Resolve program.

When delivering their resources, we had the opportunity to tour the school and see firsthand the tremendous level of support they provide to students with diverse needs right here in Halton Hills.

From spaces designed for sensory regulation and movement to adaptive equipment, communication supports and individualized learning environments, it was inspiring to see how thoughtfully different needs are recognized and supported.

Classroom of Resolve is about working alongside educators to help remove barriers and give students the tools they need to participate, learn and feel that they belong.

We are incredibly grateful to TELUS Friendly Future Foundation for their generous support of the I Have Resolve Foundation. Partnerships like this help us continue bringing Classroom of Resolve to more schools and creating more inclusive learning environments in communities across Ontario.

Thank you to the incredible team at McKenzie-Smith Bennett School for welcoming us and, most importantly, for the work you do every day to ensure students are supported, included and given opportunities to thrive.

Inclusion lives here.

Today is World Duchenne Awareness Day.

Duchenne will always be deeply personal to us. Jason lived with Duchenne, but Duchenne never defined who he was. His life, his determination and his words — “Whatever happens, Mom, I have resolve” — continue to guide everything we do.

This year’s theme, Access Changes Lives, is one we believe in wholeheartedly. Access to care. Access to opportunity. Access to community. And access to a life where disability is never a reason someone is left on the outside.

Today we remember Jason, stand with everyone living with Duchenne and their families, and continue to hope for greater access, greater inclusion and a future where everyone living with Duchenne has the opportunity to live a full and meaningful life.

September is FASD Aw

Our story began with resolve. What has grown from it is a community committed to inclusion.

The I Have Resolve Foundation was created from a deeply personal experience and a belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to feel included, supported and able to participate.

Today, that belief is being put into action.

Through our work in schools, community programs and inclusive events, we are helping remove barriers for children, adults with disabilities, seniors and others who may experience isolation or exclusion.

We have grown, our programs have evolved, and our reach continues to expand — but the purpose behind our work has remained the same.

This video prepared by Craig McNicoll shares our story: why I Have Resolve began, what we are doing today, and the impact we hope to continue creating alongside the incredible communities and partners who make this work possible.

Who’s up for a nig

What a beautiful full-circle moment.

Seeing EvieJoy discover Classroom of Resolve supports at her own school means more to us than we can say.

This is exactly why we do this work — creating spaces where children of all abilities feel supported, included and able to participate in ways that work for them.

Thank you, Dreams Come True Music Studio, for sharing this with us — and EvieJoy, you absolutely made our day.
